JOB OPPORTUNITY: Privatisation in education and human rights consortium co-ordinator

The Privatisation in Education and Human Rights Consortium is seeking a motivated Coordinator to lead in the management of the consortium’s work and support members of the network. This is a great opportunity for an individual with a strong interest and experience in education and/or human rights to join a network of diverse organisations working in education.

The Coordinator will act as the focal point for joint project activities, oversee management of events, provide communication materials and oversee joint advocacy and media dissemination strategy.

The Privatisation in Education and Human Rights Consortium:

Led by ActionAid International, Amnesty International, Global Campaign for Education (GCE), the Education Support Program of the Open Society Foundations (OSF-ESP), the Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (GI-ESCR), Oxfam, RESULTS Education Fund, and the Right to Education Initiative (RTE) the Consortium engages in innovate research and advocacy projects in joint activities relating to privatisation in education. It is unique to have a network with a variety of actors from across the globe engaged in privatisation in education and in education more generally.

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Good demonstrable experience in communications, project management and/or network coordination
  • Experience of research and non-academic writing
  • Experience of communications and social media is an advantage
  • Preference for background in comparative education and/or human rights
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internet research
  • Proficiency in English and French
  • Support the aims and objectives of the Consortium


  • Knowledge of Spanish, Arabic, or Portuguese will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Photoshop/graphics

Location: This role is offered as either a part-time contract based in Nairobi, Kenya or as an international consultancy based in any location. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Global South.

Contract: 3 days/week, initial 12-month contract

Salary:  $22,800 per annum
